Porcius Festus was the Roman procurator of Judea (c. AD 59–62) who inherited the case of the Apostle Paul, as recorded in the Acts of the Apostles. When Paul invoked his rights as a Roman citizen, Festus formally accepted the appeal, stating, “Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shalt thou go.” This ruling sent Paul to Rome and marks a pivotal moment in the New Testament narrative.
