Demetrius I Soter was a Seleucid king who seized the throne in 162 BC after escaping Roman captivity, presenting himself as a restorer of legitimate rule. Despite early success and administrative reforms, his harsh policies and internal revolts led to his overthrow and death in 150 BC.
