Trajan’s Bridge was a remarkable engineering feat of the Roman Empire, built over the Danube River between 103 and 105 CE. Commissioned by Emperor Trajan, it was part of his campaign to conquer Dacia (modern-day Romania). Designed by the famous Roman architect Apollodorus of Damascus, the bridge connected the regions near modern-day Drobeta-Turnu Severin in Romania and Kladovo in Serbia.
