The Column of Antoninus Pius, erected in 161 AD by his successors Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus, commemorates the deified Roman Emperor Antoninus Pius and his wife, Faustina the Elder. Today, only the base of the Column of Antoninus Pius survives, which is housed in the Vatican Museums and still displays its intricate reliefs depicting the emperor’s apotheosis and military scenes.
