Amalric I of Jerusalem (r. 1163–1174) was one of the most capable rulers of the Latin Kingdom, noted for his administrative reforms and efforts to strengthen royal authority. His ambitious campaigns in Egypt, though ultimately unsuccessful, played a pivotal role in shaping the balance of power in the eastern Mediterranean during the age of the Crusades.
