Aemilian, also known as Marcus Aemilius Aemilianus, was a Roman emperor who reigned for a remarkably short period in 253 AD. His rule lasted only about three months, making him one of the shortest-reigning emperors in Roman history. Aemilian seized power after defeating the incumbent emperor Trebonianus Gallus but struggled to maintain control amid political instability and military challenges. His reign ended abruptly when his own troops, fearing the advancing forces of Valerian, assassinated him, bringing his brief hold on the empire to an end.
